Sorry, this item has sold.

Hummel "Barnyard Hero" #195 2/0, minted date 1948, Artisan date 1952, TMK-3 SS #195 2/0 is only offered in the 4-inch style. First modeled by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1948.
In the first issue, the Barnyard Hero was sculpted to 5 1/2 inches. Then in the mid-1950's Barnyard Hero was scaled down to the 4-inch size and the HUM number became 195 2/0 with hands apart appearing on each side of the fence. Prior to the change of size to 4" Barnyard Hero was 5 1/2 inches, listed as 195/I (letter I refers to a plus in side), no other sizes have been made. In the 1950's the hands of the boy are changed to a clasp together on the fence, no longer are they seperate.

The figurine is 4 inches tall x 4 inches long x 2 inches wide, on an oval base of 3 inches long
The name Barnyard Hero is a play on words. The German translation is Barnyard Coward. The naming stylist felt that in English, Coward was too harsh and instead used a lighter touch in a play on words.

The 1948 minting date is marked on the base.

Offered in like-new condition, and a new box and air packing is included. This item is Vintage and a rare piece as it it stamped with "western Germany" a early time between conflict WWII ending and the creation of East and West Germany, another type of a cross-over piece.
